Luontoliitto's Policy Group
Luontoliitto’s Policy Group is made up of a collection of campaigns and activities such as, agricultural reform influencing, anti-datacenter work, birdwatching events, regional nature activites and queer nature groups – there is something for everyone! This action group has been running since the start of 2023 and evolves according to the wants and needs of the volunteers. We have a focus on youth (up to 29, but all ages are welcome). We work towards bettering diversity and inclusion in nature activities and environmental policy through offering participation tools and nature activities.
How to get involved:
Anti-data center campaigning
We are campaigning to put a pause on data center expansion and for better regulation. In October 2026 we started having events against data centers across Finland that took form as protests, to writing to art. The group is still relatively new, there are people from across the whole of Finland and different regional groups to join. We use telegram to stay connected.
Sustainable Agriculture Group
Since the end of 2025, the Policy Group has been campaigning for better agricultural systems. Right now, we are now in the run up to our next government elections, which means it’s time to demand environmental and social reform. Our agricultural industries need major change, too much money is going towards the exploitation of animals. We are campaigning to redirect animal agriculture subsidies to more sustainable and environmentally friendly food systems. We are doing this by contacting election candidates and asking them what they think about these issues, and then we are trying to make the answers transparent to voters. Join us to work together with a group of passionate and inclusive youth who are passionate about bettering our food systems!
This group works mostly in English, with some Finnish communications.
We meet approximately once a month both live (in Helsinki) and online. We have a group on telegram to stay connected.
Queer nature activities
We have an extremely active queer birdwatcher’s group, it has over 200 members on Telegram, come join us! We go birding together, have hangouts, art events and enjoy community together. We have also had queer trips to the forest and queer mushroom foraging events.

Regional activities (Helsinki and Pirkanmaa)
Throughout the year we offer activities for nature lovers which are attended by hundreds of people. In Helsinki we hold campaign meetings, birdwatching trips, hangouts, crafting events, influencing/lobby events, trips to the forest, mushroom foraging, forest inventory workshops and more! We have a new regional group in Pirkanmaa for queer nature lovers, since 2025, we have held several birdwatching and forest events in Tampere and Hämeenlinna. The queer nature lovers Pirkanmaa group has a telegram chat!

Helsinki protests, forest trips and birding trips
Birdwatching / birding hangout group
We hold birdwatching training courses every spring and autumn where beginners can learn about birds that live in different environments. We also hold different bird related events throughout the year such as, our bird sound listening club in winter, winter birding walks, crafting events, watching films and hang out sessions. We also sometimes try and influence bird related policy, such as campaigning against the hunting of birds. This is an active community with a lot of events offered, no experience or commitment amount is needed to participate.

Luontoliiton politiikkaryhmä kutsuu marssimaan datakeskuksia vastaan 7.11.2026
Huolestuneista kansalaisista ja järjestöistä koostuva koalitio järjestää 7.11.2026 mielenosoituksia vaatien datakeskusprojektien jäädyttämistä ja hankkeiden tiukempaa sääntelyä. Mielenosoitukset ovat osa koko Euroopan laajuista Stop Dirty Data Centers -kampanjaa. Luontoliiton nuorten politiikkaryhmä on mukana järjestämässä Helsingin mielenosoitusta.
Politiikkaryhmän datakeskusmielenosoituksissa paljon väkeä – myös kansainvälinen media kiinnostui
Luontoliiton nuorten Politiikkaryhmä on järjestänyt useita mielenosoituksia Googlen datakeskushankkeita vastaan Helsingissä viime viikkoina. Mielenosoituksiin on osallistunut satoja ihmisiä.
Mielenosoitukset ovat herättäneet laajasti kiinnostusta kotimaisessa ja ulkomaisessa mediassa.
Luontoliiton nuoret osoittavat mieltä Googlen datakeskuksia vastaan Helsingissä maanantaina 26.10.
Luontoliiton nuorten politiikkaryhmä järjestää Loppu datakeskuksille! -mielenosoituksen Googlen Suomen pääkonttorin edessä Helsingin Arkadiankadulla maanantaina 26.10. klo 16–17. Mielenosoittajat vaativat, ettei Suomeen rakenneta enää uusia datakeskuksia luonnon ja tavallisten ihmisten kustannuksella.
