Come join us to for a queer fungi trip in Ahvenisto –  Hämeenlinna!

On the trip we will walk in lush spruce forest paths, find and pick edible mushrooms as well as learn to identify non-edible species. The guides for the trip will be Sommer Luontoliitto’s Policy Group and Ina from the regional nature conservation association.

Things to note: we will be doing quite a bit of walking on this trip and the terrain will be quite hilly, and the weather can quickly change in autumn. So please be prepared by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. 

You are welcome to bring with you food, snacks, hot drinks, etc… we will have a break during the trip where you can eat and drink. 

This is a beginner friendly event, which means that you do not need to know anything about the subject. Since we are a youth organization, this event is aimed primarily towards young people (up to 29) – however, people of all ages are welcome to attend! The event will be held in mostly in English, but accomodations for those who would like to speak Finnish are available. 

Getting to and from!

Arrival:
We will have different joint departures from Helsinki and Tampere and Hämeenlinna. 

For those coming locally, or other regions, then we will be meeting at bus platform 8 to take the 3A bus leaving at 11:34 to Ahvenisto Forest (11 minute bus ride). Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to the bus station. 

Tampere departure: we will take the 10:35 R train from Tampere train station; which arrives in Hämeenlinna at 11:21. We will then join the joint bus departure from the station to the forest. 

Helsinki departure: we will take the 10am Pendolino 143 train to Tampere arriving at 11:09 to Hämeenlinna railway station. We will then join the joint bus departure from the station to the forest. 

If coming by car, please meet us at 12:00 in the car park of Ahvenisto. Address is: Olympiakatu 20. If you are coming by foot, bike, etc… you can also meet us there. 

Departure:

We will take the 16A bus from Taimistonie at 16:11 arriving to bus to Hämeenlinna train station at 16:23. There is a train departure to Tampere at 16:38 arriving at 17:25. There is a train departing to Helsinki at 16:47 arriving at 17:59. You also welcome to leave when you choose though, this is just the suggested joint departure times.
